DVD to Streaming (Digitization) Service

DVDs often do not stream well (or sometimes even legally) over conferencing platforms like Zoom, Teams and Webex. As such, the Library can convert DVDs to streaming files for use in courses under specific conditions. Once the film has been converted, we will provide you with a link to give to your students so that they can watch the film. The link will require them to login with their usual Cap U login, and will expire at the end of term.

If you think your request qualifies, contact the Media Technician with the following information:

  • DVD title
  • DVD owner – you, the Library, your department, etc.
  • Date(s) needed
  • Course(s) you intend to use it for

Please note that two weeks’ notice may be required to provide this service when the DVD is in hand. For conversion requests that require a DVD to be purchased, timing will depend on how quickly we can order and receive the film.
