Research Orientation: Start Your Research Here

Some definitions, tips, and suggestions to help you get oriented to Library research.

Using Discovery

Find a Database

Quick Search and Articles Search are good places to get started on your research, but sometimes you need more precise search options.

Find a database through one of these portals:

Research Guides

  • Choose your subject then click the Find Articles tab, where you'll find suggested databases for this topic area.

Database Finder

  • Choose your subject and select one of the recommended databases.
  • If you know the name of the database you want (e.g. Academic Search Complete) choose the first letter of the name (i.e. A) and select your database from the alphabetical list.
  • Do NOT put your keywords into the searchbox. This box is searching for databases, not articles.
