The BEAM Research Method

The BEAM research method is a way of thinking about how you will use and integrate sources into your paper, and the different roles each source will play in your paper. BEAM stands for:

  • Background
  • Exhibit (or Evidence)
  • Argument
  • Method

Knowing how you might integrate and use a source for a paper can not only help you strengthen your research paper, but can also make the process of finding sources more efficient.
