KINE 231 Library Tutorial

This guide is intended to support students taking Donna Perry's KINE 231 course.

How do I choose a database to search?

The library subscribes to many different article databases. Each database includes journal articles from different disciplines. The library's Discovery search lets you search through most of them at the same time.

Sometimes searching in Discovery will make your results too broad, and you may want to search in just one or two databases at a time to narrow your results down right away.

Some databases you may want to try for your research include:

  • SPORTDiscus - includes journals focused on exercise science
  • PsycInfo & PsycArticles - includes journals focused on all areas of psychology
  • MEDLINE - includes journals from health related disciplines
  • ScienceDirect - a multidisciplinary database which includes journals from the health and social sciences

How do I access and combine multiple databases into 1 search?

Watch the short video below to learn how to access individual database's from the library's website, and how to combine a few databases together into one search.
