Literary magazines in print (1st floor)

We have ongoing print subscriptions to some literary magazines on the 1st floor of the Library in the far corner past the computers. They are arranged in alphabetical order and you can borrow up to 10 magazines for 3 weeks.

The Capilano Review (TCR)
"TCR was founded in 1972 by Pierre Coupey at Capilano College in North Vancouver, and has been an independent publication since 2015. [...] Issues feature full-colour art sections and artists’ projects, poetry, fiction, essays, interviews, and reviews."
PRISM international
PRISM is the oldest literary magazine in western Canada, established in 1959 as a journal of Canadian writing, first born of a group of Vancouver writers based out of UBC’s Creative Writing department. "PRISM is especially committed to providing a platform for folks who have been systematically marginalized in the literary community, including but not limited to BIPOC groups, cis women, trans women and men, nonbinary people, people with disabilities, and members of the LGBTQQIP2SAA+ community."
Room
"Room is Canada’s oldest feminist literary magazine, published quarterly since 1975. Room publishes literature, art, and criticism by cis and trans women, trans men, Two-Spirit, and nonbinary people, and is committed to an intersectional feminist mandate centring 2SLGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and disabled voices." Formerly known as Room of One's Own.
subTerrain
"subTerrain magazine is published 3 times a year from modest offices in East Vancouver, BC. We strive to produce a stimulating fusion of fiction, poetry, photography and graphic illustration from uprising Canadian, U.S. & International writers and artists." subTerrain was founded in 1991.

We also subscribe to the online edition of Granta, a literary magazine based in the UK.

Granta
"The magazine was founded in 1889 by students at Cambridge University as The Granta, a periodical of student politics, badinage and literary enterprise, named after the river that runs through the town. In this original incarnation it published the work of writers like A.A. Milne, Michael Frayn, Stevie Smith, Ted Hughes and Sylvia Plath."
