Describing his work, Littlechild mentioned in an artist’s statement: "I am committed to righting the wrongs that First Nations peoples have endured by creating art that focuses on cultural, social and political injustices. As an artist, educator and cultural worker, my goal is a better world. It is my job to show the pride, strength and beauty of First Nations people and cultures, and contribute to the betterment of mankind".
The book George Littlechild: The Spirit Giggles Within is a stunning retrospective of a career that has spanned nearly four decades. Featuring more than 150 of the Plains Cree artist's mixed-media works, this sumptuous collection showcases the bold swaths of colour and subtle textures of Littlechild's work. George Littlechild: The Spirit Giggles Within is part of the CapU Library's collections in both print and ebook formats.

"A young woman stands in what would appear to be a burnt forest with little life, caused by global warming. Her third eye connects to the SPIRIT of the trees, in hopes things will CHANGE. The magnolia flowers offer HOPE and renewal for a better future. My muse is my niece Danette." - George Littlechild
The painting was donated to CapU Library in May 2022.
